When to use is/are or have/has is always quite tricky.  It all has to do with the subject (the main topic) in the sentence, the subject and the verb in a sentence have to ‘agree’.  For instance singular nouns and pronouns use singular verbs and similarly, plural nouns and pronouns use plural verbs.  Have a look at the examples below:
